Send your message to Brussels - Time is Running Out!

First, I must thank every one of you for your amazing efforts in getting so many 'Time . . . ' postcards to Westminster. So many arrived, they could not be ignored!

Next – while all of our MPs have gone back to their constituencies to prepare for the General Election you might think we can all relax for a moment. That is not the case.

Our message must get to Brussels – so please send YOUR message to Commissioner Dalli.

It’s a case of using snail mail and a stamp ~ E-mail just does not work for Brussels. In the past, we have encouraged E-letters but have since found that they have delisted the E-address for the Commission and now you can only get through if you go to the web-site and send your message on a box-ticking form. Even then the likelihood is that most messages will not be read and will more than likely just be deleted.

If you send a real letter, on your headed note paper, then somebody has to deliver them, trudge up to the Commissioner’s office with them, find the letter opener and put them in a tidy pile to be read. At least we know that your letter will be seen many times this way. You might even get an answer!

Many of us have friends who live across the Channel. Can you ask them to write too please? The Dalli letter has been translated into both French and German, so that it can be easily used by our continental cousins.

Please encourage your customers to write too. The more the merrier. The best time to influence the legislation is BEFORE it is put in place – not afterwards. We must all leave Commissioner Dalli in no doubt that any suggestion of restricting the British supplements market is utterly unacceptable.

The latest industry research has already shown that the setting of unnecessarily restrictive levels would see the removal from the market of hundreds of popular products which have been safely used by millions of consumers for decades. This would lead to the closure of more than 700 independent health food stores and the loss of 4,000 UK retail jobs, as well as hitting hard the small specialist manufacturers.
These figures should make you very afraid – I know they are accurate.

We MUST NOT allow that to happen.

I’ve said many times that we cannot fight this battle for you on our own. You must play a most vital part – please.
